Une vie de peinture produit ses propres lois…
Dans cette série, je transforme mon expérience de peintre en un corpus de lois picturales incarnées par des tableaux. Chaque œuvre formule un principe de peinture acquis par l'expérience ; ces « lois » ne sont donc pas théoriques, mais issues de plus de trente-cinq années d'atelier.
Les tableaux sont le manifeste. Chaque peinture constitue un énoncé autonome, formulé par les moyens mêmes de la peinture. Il ne s'agit de faire émerger des principes nés de la pratique. La série répond ainsi à une question devenue incontournable : comment définir sa peinture après trente-cinq ans de travail ? Elle constitue un exercice d'auto-définition et de construction d'une autorité symbolique fondée non sur la théorie, mais sur l'expérience accumulée du faire.
Dans "Manifesto-Painting", je raconte, de manière visuelle et peinte, mon manifeste de la peinture : celui d'une artiste peintre qui exprime sa vision du médium et le vécu qui l'a façonnée au fil des décennies — croyances, expériences, inspirations, combats, obstinations, défis, désillusions, hommages et insultes.
Les huit premiers tableaux de la série sont présentés ici, accompagnés chacun d'un texte explicitant sa démarche propre.
A life in painting generates its own laws…
In this series, I transform my experience as a painter into a corpus of pictorial laws embodied in paintings. Each work formulates a principle of painting acquired through experience; these “laws” are therefore not theoretical, but arise from more than thirty-five years of studio practice.
The paintings are the manifesto. Each painting constitutes an autonomous statement, articulated through the very means of painting itself. This is not a matter of bringing forth principles born from practice, but of being those principles in pictorial form. The series thus responds to a question that has become unavoidable: how does one define one’s painting after thirty-five years of work? It is an exercise in self-definition and in the construction of a symbolic authority grounded not in theory, but in the accumulated experience of making.
In "Manifesto-Painting," I narrate, in visual and painted form, my manifesto of painting: that of a painter expressing her vision of the medium and the lived experience that has shaped it over the decades—beliefs, experiences, inspirations, struggles, perseverance, challenges, disillusionments, homages, and insults.
The first eight paintings of the series are presented here, each accompanied by a text explaining its specific approach.
